You, Aldera, and the Little Study — Writing Sounds & Ear Cleaning [ASMR]

I was impressed by the many roles the glass pen motif in the logo plays. First, a glass pen suits an otherworldly study perfectly, vividly conveying the room's atmosphere and the brightness of the light streaming in (just look at the illustration — yes, it really makes you feel like this is how you'd gaze at Ardera's profile and her dancing pen, what a wonderful image). The clear, transparent pen symbolizes Ardera's own transparency of heart, and as a writing tool used to inscribe magic formulas, it's deeply woven into the story itself — when the return spell is completed, it even becomes a precious gift that promises a reunion. It's not just about the pleasure of sound; I was struck by the sophistication of tying together multiple elements — setting, story, and character — into a single item. The classic ear cleaning is also lovely, framed as something Ardera does as thanks for her everyday help, after learning about the custom while the two of them share knowledge of each other's worlds. She says, "It feels good to have it done for you, right?" but she also says, "Tea tastes better when someone makes it for you." The warm exchange, sparked by a desire to understand someone from another world and returning the kindness she's received, is portrayed so naturally. The way it casually reveals the time they've spent together is also skillfully done — past conversations and memories from their travels are woven in here and there, giving a sense of scope beyond the runtime itself. I was especially moved by how the time they spent together is expressed through the concrete detail of "how much the tea leaves have dwindled." At the moment of parting, the reluctance Ardera confesses, the heartache of wanting to stay together, truly takes root in your chest. The sound effects, said to be self-made, are far too well-crafted for modesty — not just the writing sounds and ear cleaning, but even the footsteps and the sound of pages turning are given careful "expression" matched to the movement. Furan Kimu's calm voice was also a perfect fit for Ardera, a laid-back girl with a deep, rich intelligence hidden within her. This is a work polished to a high finish, like carefully burnished amber. I'm eagerly looking forward to the day when Arukariko-san's next work joins the shelves of the Junk Library.

I decided to buy it based on the thumbnail and title, but once I actually listened to it, I was glad I bought it. The sound of the glass pen was so soothing, and the other sound effects were lovely too — I was amazed to hear they were made in-house. Also, the voice actress's voice was so calming, perfect for drifting off to sleep. Most of all, the story was wonderful, and by the end I felt an almost unbearable ache in my chest. I'm looking forward to a sequel and other works.

Let me say this first: I want a sequel. As a laid-back ASMR work, the comfort of the sound effects, the word choices in the script (lines), and the voice actress's performance all came together perfectly to create a sense of presence, letting me sink into it comfortably. Actually, the first time I listened, I fell asleep by the time Track 3 came around. Having listened to countless voice works before, I can say that a work you can actually fall asleep to is a rare and precious thing. Also, personally, I rate Track 5 very highly. The fleeting sadness of parting, combined with the wistful conflict of truly not wanting her to go, really struck a chord with me. I absolutely love this kind of scenario. I hope that in the not-too-distant future, we get to hear a story where Ardera-chan completes her magic.
