Long Sleep ASMR: Tea & Whispers — Ear Care and Massage for Healing [Sound-Only Versions Included]

Shirokuma no Yome releases her first all-ages ASMR-focused work in about two years. While staying true to the classic ASMR formula, this work has a distinctly Japanese atmosphere, making for a very pleasant piece overall. As ASMR goes, it features the usual lineup — ear cleaning, cotton swabs, bonten, ear blowing, ear massage with foam, earwax water, cream, oil, and towels, as well as shoulder and back massages — but what makes all of this feel infused with a Japanese flavor is, above all, how wonderfully the very first track, "01_Menu Selection and Light Tea," draws you into the world of the work. Ikegasaki-san, who runs the circle and also performs in it, apparently practices tea ceremony as a hobby, and in this track you can enjoy genuinely authentic tea ceremony sounds. Beyond the ambient sounds of being invited into a tea room, you get the sound of water being poured, tea being whisked, and even the rarely-heard sound of kaishi paper. The sound of the offered sweets is designed around the idea that "the listener is the one eating," so you can really feel the attention to detail in how close the sound of taking the sweet onto the paper and chewing it feels — and the sheer sense of immersion you get from hearing the tea being whisked at the same time is truly wonderful. It's genuinely soothing. This track functions more as an introduction to the work as a whole, but after listening to it, not only do you feel relaxed, the atmosphere of every ASMR menu item from Track 2 onward feels even more vivid. The first time I listened, I was so drawn into the work that I fell fast asleep in the middle of Track 2. This work unusually includes a sound-only track, which I think comes down to personal preference. Personally, I prefer the version with voice, since the tone of voice and breathing matched to the atmosphere of the work feel so pleasant. The ASMR talk segment also introduces the tools used in the work, which is nice for getting to know the piece more deeply. It was truly a wonderful work. Absolutely the best.

It's almost a bad habit when listening to audio works — thinking "if only this part were a little more like this..." even when the quality is already good. But this was perfect enough that I never felt that way at all. It had tremendous impact right from the matcha and sweets segment; since this isn't something I'm normally familiar with, I was genuinely amazed at how healing it could be. It's only about ten-odd minutes, but within it unfolds a space of quiet, profound sabi (subdued elegance) that even someone with discerning taste would find satisfying. Unlike many works that split time evenly, this one puts emphasis on the ears with things like ear cleaning, which may come down to preference, but I loved it. ◎ The foam cleaning is thoroughly fulfilling too, ranging from light to rich foam texture, and after a satisfying rinse they even bring in cotton swabs — truly attentive to every detail, right down to including the sound of breath during the procedure, which is impressive. Compared to the generous ear care, the massage portion is shorter, but it still delivers quality that makes you go "oh wow" — from the gentle hot towel and rubbing on the ears, to the shoulder and back massage where you can tell just from the sound alone that they're using just the right amount of force, gently patting away. The hot towel especially was incredible — normally my ears don't feel much beyond ear cleaning, but this was amazingly pleasant... This got long, but if you listen to the sample and like it, I recommend buying immediately. It's that level of quality.

The latest ASMR work from Shirokuma no Yome. As always, you get to enjoy all kinds of sounds alongside her lovely voice. There's less conversation with the shop clerk character, making this a work for people who really want to soak in pure ASMR. The sound quality is so good it barely needs mentioning at this point — this circle has that veteran feel — but this time the sleep-inducing elements really stand out. Not only is there less conversation with the clerk, the content overall has less stimulation, so it really does feel like you'll sleep well. Actually, I did sleep (I never made it to the end!). The price is also reasonable, so if you like ASMR, you won't regret buying this.

This is an audio work where you get ear cleaning and massages in a tastefully atmospheric space. The ear-care tracks run about an hour each across two tracks, and the massage tracks run about 30 minutes each across two tracks, giving you plenty of time to be slowly and thoroughly soothed. However, thanks to the synergy of careful, unhurried, and richly varied ear cleaning combined with soft, comforting narration, this truly deserves to be called an endurance-test sleep ASMR. Whether you make it through the whole thing feeling blissfully melted, or surrender to the pleasure and fall asleep along the way — your willpower will be tested. My favorite was the ear-blowing. It felt so real I wondered if air was actually coming out of my earphones.

This circle has been active for many years, so it's no surprise they can carry the work on sound alone almost entirely. There is a sound-effects-only track included, but the main content has almost no dialogue during procedures like ear cleaning, letting you focus entirely on the sound. In the ear-cleaning part, different types of tools are used to scrape inside the ear, letting you enjoy the subtle differences in sound. There's also plenty of moisture-heavy care like foam ear massage and earwax water, which feels wonderful. I got to fully enjoy top-quality ASMR and spent a truly pleasant amount of time with it.

The sounds of tea ceremony, ear cleaning, massage... I was healed by such incredibly comforting sounds. The depth of the ear-cleaning sound was the best. The attention to sound detail was so wonderful it felt like I was really there, actually having it done to me. It's also helpful that there are tracks with and without voice, as well as data in different file formats. This is a work I'd recommend to both beginners and veterans of ear-cleaning audio. It seems like you could get a really deep, restful sleep from this.

As an introverted guy who's always looking down at the ground, I happened to glance up at the blue sky, and there was Ikegasaki Ayaka-san handing out gifts of this work — I'm grateful I got one, let me tell you. Guess it pays to look up at the sky once in a while. This work lets you enjoy tea ceremony alongside ASMR, and the cover art has a wonderful Japanese flair too. The big sister character with beautiful hair and a cute face in a kimono is just the best. Just looking at the Japanese-style room is calming, and the flowers, including the patterns on the clothing, were beautiful and put me in a bright mood. I was healed visually even before listening to the ASMR. In the intro part of the ASMR, you're guided by a refined, elegant lady and served tea and senbei in a proper tea ceremony. Her serious atmosphere naturally makes you feel more composed. The tea-ceremony-related sounds were very calming and pleasant. The sound of the senbei was also nice and let me relax a bit. By the time the intro ended, my mind felt settled, putting me in a great state to focus on the sounds. So this is the power of tea ceremony. After the intro, you pick whatever you like from the menu to be soothed, and the pleasure of having your heart — once tightened by the tea ceremony — gradually loosened again was wonderful, and I slept so soundly. I tried listening through the course menu in order, and also just picking one item at a time — either way, I slept great. Since the intro part is important, I made sure to listen to it properly every time. In every menu item, the lady's gentle voice was soothing, the sound of insects was pleasant, and the sounds of each menu item felt great. For basic ear cleaning, the bonten and ear-blowing feel great. For foam ear cleaning and wet ear cleaning, the foam sounds from the foam ear massage feel great. For ear and head massage, imagining the warmth from the hot towel ear massage feels great. For shoulder and back anma massage, imagining the warmth of her hands through the rubbing massage feels great. I picked out my particular favorites here, but the other sounds were great too. The ASMR talk segment was also wonderful. Ikegasaki Ayaka-san's performance felt like a gentle, caring older sister, and it was very soothing. The ear-blowing was incredibly pleasant — the best.

With meticulously crafted sound effects, beautifully immersive ambient sound that makes you feel like you're really there, and conversation that's kept to the minimum necessary while still having a comforting voice, this work will have you asleep before you know it. Every part is wonderful, and if you like the sample, I don't think you'll regret buying it at all. The ear cleaning in particular was amazing — I was genuinely healed by it. Shirokuma no Yome celebrated her 10th anniversary this year, and this work, packed full of the skill and dedication to sound cultivated over that time, was outstanding. I'm really looking forward to her future all-ages works too.

Before I know it, I'm asleep. Seriously. Part of it is because the dialogue is intentionally kept minimal, but it's not just that. The sound is crafted to feel gentle and reassuring, and you can really tell it's been carefully designed for restful sleep. If you want to fall asleep while listening to ASMR, I highly recommend this. The one drawback is that you fall asleep so quickly, it's hard to actually make it to the end, lol.

Given how they're constantly pursuing "pleasant sounds" on a daily basis, it's no surprise that every single massage sound here is top-notch. It really felt like I was actually receiving the treatment (results may vary by individual). That said, personally I was hoping for a head massage or shoulder-tapping with stronger sound pressure, so in that sense, the gentle, healing-focused massage in this work left me wanting just a bit more. For the next one, please give us a stronger massage audio track for us modern people whose shoulders and heads are all knotted up from the stresses of society.
