For listeners who want a slow, husband-pampering healing session filled with nostalgic warmth and whispered ear care from a devoted spirit wife.
On a quiet night while their daughter is away, Sumi—a house-guardian spirit in the form of a gentle cat yokai—cares for her tired husband alone. She soothes him with a warm hot-towel eye massage, a soft back-stepping massage, and careful ear cleaning, murmuring tender words as the night deepens. It's a slow, healing evening built entirely around comfort, nostalgia, and quiet marital affection.
The last sanctuary where humans and yōkai can live together. A hidden village deep in the mountains of Kōchi, Shikoku. Monobe— Sumi came from Tokushima, crossing the mountains, to protect your family's house—one that has stood in Monobe since ancient times—and to protect you. In time, she becomes your wife. Tonight, with your daughter away at an overnight nursery stay, it's a quiet night just for the two of you, husband and wife. Seeing you utterly exhausted, Sumi—small in stature, yet full of the warmth and tenderness of a wife and mother—soothes and spoils you, just as one would comfort a baby. With her small feet, she works diligently, pressing firmly on just the right pressure points as she treads upon your back. She soothes your eyes with a steamed towel, loosens your heart with an oil massage, and leisurely cleans your ears. Wrapped in the ticking of the grandfather clock, you sink into the familiar warmth of your futon— The time you spend with Sumi will surely guide you back to your nostalgic boyhood days, and to the home your heart has always longed for. Let yourself lean on Sumi and become a child again—please, rest peacefully. "Ah— may I ask you something? Would you let me look closely... at your face? Grow tired of it? There's no reason I would. After all, I am your wife, and the house-guardian spirit of your home— an Akashaguma. I was born as a yōkai to protect you and your household's happiness. Whether or not you are happy— I want to read it from your eyes, anytime, as many times as I need to." She always watches over you. So that you and your home may always be blessed with happiness, she gives everything she has, without end— a "house-guardian spirit"— that is the yōkai known as Akashaguma.
She has watched over you since you were young, sharing time together with you. Even though she already knows everything about you, she still longs to know you even more deeply, and continues to stay close by your side... You take this Sumi as your wife, and build a home together with her. The reassurance of knowing each other completely, and the way your two hearts melt together as you indulge and spoil one another— Whenever you spend time with Sumi, she will surely remind you, every time, of the place where you truly belong.
- 1Sumi Introduces Herself6:13
"Of course, I am an Akashaguma. A kind of yōkai known as a 'house-guardian spirit'—one who protects homes and invites good fortune." "In Tokushima, I lost the house I was meant to protect, and was fated to simply fade away as I was—until I was summoned to protect you, and your home."
- 2Announcing the Title, and How to Enjoy This Recording12:02
"You and I are husband and wife, after all—and right now... hehe, there's no one to disturb us. Just the two of us." "So there's no reason at all for us to stay apart, is there? Come now— why don't you come a little closer?"
- 3You Do Seem Rather Worn Out24:50Back Treading
"Ehehe, I just brought in the cushions I'd hung out to air. Now then... let me line them up, just so." "Now, lie down on your stomach for me— ah, wait— actually, before that..."
- 4You Ate So Much. Shall We Rest a While After the Meal?28:15Eye Massage with a Steamed Towel
"Mm, that's right. A steamed hand towel. Your tiredness always shows up in your eyes, doesn't it? There, just stay as you are. Just turn your face upward and gently close your eyes." "I'm going to lay the steamed towel over your eyes now, all right? It might be just a little hot— but bear with it, won't you?"
- 5Cleaning Your Ears Like This Always Brings Back That Memory24:33Right Ear Cleaning
"Have you forgotten, I wonder? —<ear-cleaning sound>— After all, you and I... —<ear-cleaning sound>— no matter what new experience it was... hehe —<ear-cleaning sound>— we always faced it together, hand in hand —<ear-cleaning sound>" "And so... you see? <ear-cleaning sound>— I— back then— ...(breath)— I felt so frustrated. ...<ear-cleaning sound>— that someone other than your... parents... <ear-cleaning sound>... would be the one to give little you... <ear-cleaning sound>— your very first... ear cleaning— ...(breath)"
- 6The Other Side, Too. There We Go. 'Roll Over'23:37Left Ear Cleaning + Finishing with a Cotton Twist
"Now then, let's finish up. —Ah, but before that— (sound of licking your cheek)" "Hm? No, that's not it. I'm not crying. That was just... well. I simply wanted to kiss you— that's all." "Now then— let's finish this up, shall we? First—mm..."
- 7Fufu, What a Big Yawn. ...Well, it can't be helped. Why don't you just fall asleep like this tonight?18:13Bedside Whispers
"Tick, tock, tick, tock. Tick, tock, tick, tock. It almost sounds like a heartbeat, doesn't it?" "It's the clock that's been marking time in this house since even before I was summoned here— in other words, it's the heartbeat of this house's journey." "Tick, tock, tick, tock. Bong, bong. ...Within this heartbeat, you were born, I was summoned, and Natsuha was born— and within that same steady beat, each of us lived through our own passage of time."

Al-alright, let me tell you exactly what just happened to me! "I bought 'Ayakashi Kyoushuutan ~Akashaguma Sumi~' and somehow got the full original 'Monobeno' game thrown in too" This isn't some small thing like "I've already played all the routes" or "Sumi-chan is cute." I got a taste of the official creators going all out. If you haven't played it yet, you need to buy this! The audio work itself was also packed with healing elements and was amazing. Listening before bed lets you drift off so peacefully!
This is a work that really gives you that "I'm back in the world of Monobeno!" feeling. In the main Monobeno story, Sumi-san comes across as very dependable, but in this work you get to enjoy a super sweet, newlywed-like side of her. Seeing her pout a little, act spoiled, and show all sorts of different expressions was a lot of fun, and it brought back nostalgic memories of the main Monobeno story. The environmental sounds—the river flowing, birds chirping, the ticking of an old clock—were also nostalgic and soothing. The tap-tap of the knife in the kitchen was great too. And the "ahh~" feeding moments were wonderful as well. I would have liked to hear Hisha-kaku and the other characters joining in together too. I wonder if a continuation of the main story could ever happen.
This work lets you enjoy the lovey-dovey married life of Akashaguma Sumi-chan, from the original game of the 'Ayakashi Kyoushuutan' series, 'Monobeno.' I haven't played the original game myself, but right now there's a campaign going on where you get the original game for free just by buying this work. Isn't that a little too generous? This is truly a now-or-never opportunity! So I think I'll go ahead and try the original game too. I wonder if I'll have different impressions listening to this again after playing it.
When I heard that Sumi-chan, who fans of the original had long been waiting for, was finally appearing in the Ayakashi Kyoushuutan series, I bought it at the speed of light! The moment I started listening, the first thing I felt was nostalgia. The first eroge I ever played was Sumi's route in 'Monobeno,' and I never dreamed that in the Reiwa era I'd get to hear a brand new audio work featuring her! If you've already played Monobeno, you absolutely must buy this! And even if you haven't played Monobeno yet, you should too!
I've bought every entry in the Ayakashi Kyoushuutan series, and Sumi, the character from Monobeno that I've been waiting so long for, has finally appeared. Her relaxed way of speaking, drawing out the ends of her words, is very soothing. I listened to it little by little as I was drifting off to sleep, so I got to enjoy it for a long time. I think you can enjoy this plenty even without having played the original, but I'd recommend playing the bonus main game first.
(As of writing this review) I was surprised to find there's an incredible campaign going on where buying this work gets you the full PC game for free. 'Monobeno' itself was a work with a surprisingly good scenario, something you'd never guess from the art style, so I strongly recommend those who haven't played it to try it out while they have this chance. Also, the audio drama itself is content that will be absolutely delightful for anyone who has played Monobeno, and the sound quality and volume are insanely high-grade, so I think it's a work well worth buying even for those who have already played Monobeno.
It flows along with a very leisurely married-couple vibe. The conversations aren't so much lovey-dovey as they are a calm, fluffy feeling between a married couple—it's the kind of thing you can really relax and listen to before bed. I haven't played the original, but thankfully there's a campaign going on right now where buying this gets you a full-priced game to play, so I think I'll give it a try.
Sumi is so cute! Her warmth, her childhood-friend charm, her good-wife power—it's all off the charts! Right now there's a campaign where you also get the main 'Monobeno' happy end game! Sumi's youthful yet high level of good-wife power makes me grin from ear to ear. Ah, it really warms the heart. I might become hopeless. You get to enjoy sweet, newlywed-like time together. It's such a great deal right now it's almost frightening! I should go ahead and buy the other Monobeno audio works while I can! I wonder if an audio work for Maitetsu will come out eventually too! Though I doubt it'll be part of Ayakashi Kyoushuutan.
You get healed a lot, and do a lot of healing in return, by Sumi-chan the house-guardian yokai, Akashaguma. With ear cleaning, foot rubs, hot towel massages, and other healing elements, it was packed full and really wonderful. It seems there's also a campaign going on where buying this work gets you the main Monobeno game, so it's truly a great deal. I hadn't played the main game yet, so the timing was perfect.
This work is an "AFTER story" type development for a character who appeared in the original game 'Monobeno,' but I was able to fully enjoy it on its own even without having played the original. Also, right now there's a campaign going on where you can actually play the original game for free!!! Is that even sane? (This is a compliment) There's really no choice but to buy it (lol)
